I’ve labeled this photo at John B. Hocker and wife. I’m not sure if it’s John Benjamin Hocker or his son John Buser Hocker.  I think it’s likely John Buser Hocker and his wife Lenise (Hall) Hocker and their two children Mabel and Donald Hall.

Hoover House, Pine Glen

The Hoover house in Pine Glen, Burnside township, Centre county, Pennsylvania. The house lies on the road between Karthaus and Pine Glen.

My grandmother tells me that her father remembered the house being built, sometime in the 1890s. His father worked on the construction. The house was allegedly built for Caroline (Swimer) Mulhollan by her husband Rudolph Mulhollan, who operated a hotel on the property. However, since Rudy died in 1883 and Caroline in 1897, this is unlikely to be the true story. Perhaps, the house  was built by the family that owned the property after the Mulhollan’s.
